The Connecticut Wine Trail/ Hummock Island in Westport offers a great oyster tour that will turn anyone into a true bivalve believer. Lastly, taking a train from the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat company in Essex is a fun family-oriented activity. In addition to sightseeing, there are different happenings available onboard, from dinners to murder mystery shows.
Conway Scenic Railroad (NH). These all-season vintage locomotives go all the way to Crawford (five hours away). This is one fun way to see the scenic backdrop of the White Mountains region. While in White Mountain, take a moose tour— a family-friendly activity consisting of a three-hour evening ride in search of the elusive moose. Lastly, take an aerial tramway that serves folks that want to ski or just explore the different state park sites. It's a quick ride, and you get to see the expansive scenic views from a higher angle.
